Corona Virus Tips
Recovery after sudden changes can be upsetting. Let’s get right to solutions.
Don’t panic about disease outbreaks. Act sensibly in the best interest of the community.
Follow guidelines. Fear causes us to make foolish choices. Hoarding negatively affects people who need what you have too much of and are not using!
Don’t trust rumors. Get the facts and follow the instructions of the National Center for Disease Control: cdc.gov/CoronavirusDisease2019.
Also consult the State CDC center for local information. For Washington state go to doh.wa.gov/emergencies/coronavirus. I like OPB 91.5 FM radio for well vetted facts.
Don’t get confused by different media contradictions. Be flexible. Facts about disease outbreaks can change quickly with new data and research pouring in. Remain calm. Be adaptable.
We have already been through several global disease events. Use common sense during disease outbreaks. Avoid public places, sports games, eating out, and gatherings. Wash our hands frequently. Cough or sneeze into our elbow. Stay home if we are sick. For maximum protection isolate from groups. Only go out in public when absolutely necessary. (I have been very impressed with how our local grocery stores have stepped up their game to protect us. Take a shopping list. Get in and out quickly. Then go home.)
At home spend time doing what you have always said you wanted more time to do! Look at this experience as an adventure. Read that book. Try new recipes. Put away tech gadgets and go back to board games and face to face communication. Get reacquainted with your family. Keep in touch with loved one by phone. Finish those projects. Clean out that closet. Help the children with their home school lessons. Get every member of the family engaged in this experience. Children have great ideas. Encourage resourcefulness. Use this time to teach them life skills: cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, budgeting. Teach your family how to cope. There will always be more coping opportunities in life!
For good nutrition and health please follow these guidelines:
Protein (fish, fowl, seafood, beans, peas, nuts, seeds)
Healthy fat (avocado, coconut oil, grape seed oil) Eat, but don’t heat, flax seed oil and olive oil (use on salads)
Carbohydrates: lower calorie, healthy green, yellow, orange, red, blue and purple fruit and vegetables
Water: 8 glasses a day.
Supplements: Vitamins C, B complex, D3, E, and Zinc are helpful.
Exercise regularly (builds strength and increases circulation).
Sleep Get 8 hours daily (Our body repairs during sleep).
Balance our lifestyle between work, play and spending time with loved ones.
Avoid stress. Stay calm and act sensibly.
Stay away from people and groups. We don’t know who might be carriers.
Breathe, eat, sleep, communicate, appreciate!
