Children are looking forward to Halloween. Adults want to enjoy the bright faces, cute costumes and excited voices. And we want them safely enjoy this holiday and have fun!
Here are some practical safety tips for the ghosts, witches and princesses who come knocking on our door. Buy small gift bags to give to each child. Instead of putting candy inside, give them little toys. Buy big bags of treats or little toys.
Spray the outside of the large bag with 90% alcohol. Leave untouched in the garage to dry. Put vinyl or nitrite gloves on. Bring the large bag inside. Using a scoop remove enough items from the large bag to fill each small bag. Secure the opening of the small bags. Put the filled small bags in a large bowl.
When the children come to your door. Put your mask and gloves on. Don’t let them help themselves. You don’t know when the kids last washed their hands. Use a pair of tongs to move each small bag into the sack of each eager child. You have just minimized the spread of virus and flu germs to the best of your ability!
Remember to put the Halloween haul away and only allow 2 pieces a day. Eating sugar can lower our immune response. This is dangerous in this pandemic with flu season just around the corner!
Have a Happy, Healthy Halloween!
