This is a good time to make changes in your habits as everyone’s lifestyle has been turned upside down already. You now have an opportunity to make changes in your habits which can lead to creating a totally different outcome. Forget getting back to “normal.”
The world has changed and a new adventure will be awaiting you. You can get a jump start on that new world experience by starting now.
Decide what your goals are. Write them down. Keep them simple. Visualize the goal as if you had already achieved it. Bring all your senses into the visualization. For instance if you want to be more physically fit then describe how it would look and feel in detail. If you want your house to be more organized then describe what that would look and feel like. If you want to lose weight write down how many pounds you want to release, how you would look and feel, etc. Prioritize all your goals but choose only one goal at a time.
Now start by printing out a month of your daily activities, including your work, family or social time, meal times, sleep hours, study and homework time (students and adults learning new skills), play and relaxation time, meditation or prayer time, etc. You will need a blank page to write your goals on, a blank monthly calendar and a pencil with eraser.
Start blocking out your essential tasks and obligations first (sleep, meal times, work time, etc.) Keep consistency in the essential aspects of your life. Now look for places on the blank calendar page where you can insert the action steps to reach your chosen goal. Focus on step by step progress. Don’t try to hurry your process. Make each day’s focus on your new habit to reach that goal an adventure, not a drudge. Celebrate your small successes as they bring you closer to your goal. Don’t be deterred by small setbacks. Keep going!
After you have successfully achieved each goal immediately select another goal and keep the momentum going. This process will help you move through your list of goals more routinely. You will be retraining yourself to make small, consistent, incremental changes which will improve your lifestyle.
