Dr. Joy’s Joyful Pleasures
Corona Virus Tips
Drink a Matcha Latte (with milk alternative, not dairy) or hot green tea. Add 3 drops Echinacea tincture to a cup of tea or glass of juice. Enjoy some Turmeric tea. These can boost your immune system.
Relax, sleep, eat healthy foods, go for a walk, sing, laugh, move your body to keep fit. Soak in a tub of hot water while listening to music. Do whatever it takes to remain focused, calm and functional.
Finish old projects. Clear clutter. Clean out that closet. Read that book. Teach the kids life skills. Play interactive games with the whole family.
Get reacquainted with your family. Talk to each other! If your loved ones are far away, let them hear your voice. We are being asked to keep our distance socially. I believe in physical distancing to stop the spread of the virus and save lives. I also believe we must keep connected with our community socially to avoid depression. Use technology to see each other’s faces and hear each other’s voices. This is good for our emotional health!
Watch uplifting movies. But don’t get lost in binge watching. There is no escape from reality! Share jokes and stories with each other. Celebrate what you do have every day with a Gratitude Circle. Sit in a circle and each person in turn shares one thing he/she is grateful for each day. Shift your attention from what you don’t have to what you do have and smile. There, doesn’t that feel better?
